Planned Giving Mission Statement

The Parksville-Qualicum Community Foundation is dedicated to enriching and strengthening our communities. Like successful community foundations across Canada, the Parksville-Qualicum Community Foundation is building permanent endowment funds, the interest from which will benefit charitable and related organizations for many years to come.

To be successful and to grow, the Parksville-Qualicium Community Foundation needs your help. Planned giving is an excellent way for you to provide that help and to leave a legacy in your community.

Planned giving is the structuring of charitable gifts so that the donor:

  • achieves his or her philanthropic objectives; and
  • maximizes tax and other financial benefits.

Most often, a planned gift is one that is arranged by the donor now, but is not received by the charity until sometime in the future - usually at the end of the donor's lifetime. The gift is legally provided for during the donor's lifetime and may provide immediate income tax benefit to the donor, or income tax benefits to the donor's estate.

Planned gifts to a community foundation have the advantage that they can help build extremely valuable community assets - funds that will not be spent, but will generate interest earnings that will benefit the community forever.
